1924-2009

Yesterday I received word of my mother’s passing.

Mom & Me

Mom & Me

It was also the birthday of my precious son.

I want to thank everyone of my mother’s friends who cared for her in her failing health. The last communnication I had with her was an opportunity to tell her she was going to be a great grandmother. I called her for Mother’s Day: no answer.

We had a very strained relationship and for too many years remained distant. The memories I have of my mom are when she was a young mother with a new baby and no husband. Her parents raised me while she worked and finally met her future husband who became my adopted father. I knew nothing of this until I was almost 50!

I’m writing my memoirs and will always love my mother for giving me life.

Dear Donna, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I applaud your honesty about your relationship with your Mom . I know it still is hurtful and sad for you. My thoughts and my prayers are with you. You are so special !

    Hello Donna,

We must value and love the unique person we are, as we strive to love, and accept others for their imperfections of being human in a cruel world that does not treat all people fairly. May your mother finally rest in peace from the broken love of your father’s past. Parents will always do what they think is best for their children, because in the end they really loved them more then themselves. After all, you turned out really great Donna, and you would make any mother truly proud.

    POEM OF MY PHOTO

    I found my old photo
    When I was five
    I had rosy apple cheeks
    And shining curly locks
    Smiling my widest smile
Showing gums where my two front teeth
    Used to be
I looked into my five-year-old eyes
And I was moved to tears
Because I could see the love and hope in them
I sobbed like my heart would break
How could I have abandoned her?
How could I have forgotten to love her all these years?
I rocked her picture in my arms and held her
    Close to my aching heart
I promise never to leave you again
I will love you till the day I die.
This was the start of my healing.

    Dear Donna,
I cannot express how sorry I am at your Mother’s passing. I lost my Mom in 2003 and still have a hard time dealing with her death.
Each day will bring less pain for you as you know that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with so many of her family members and friends.
Keep her in you heart and know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of so many of your fans.
Is there anywhere we could send a memorial contribution to honor her memory?
Please let us know how we can help.
    God bless you.

    Dear Donna,
The end of time being a daughter meeting the beginning of time to be a grandmother. Life surely sends you on a fast track, but it is only leading you in one bright direction. You shine your light in the most beautiful way, it reaches me every day on the other side of our beautiful planet. We are all with you in this time of grief and joy.
    With love
    Martina
